Hey everyone, With the start of another year, it is once again time to resume the time-honored tradition of lunch with the speaker. Having lunch with the speaker is an excellent opportunity to gain insight into his/her views on current happenings in the field, approaches to scientific questions, or to just chat about the wild days of their youth. In order to most fairly distribute the opportunity for a free lunch at that faculty club, each person should reply to this email with their top *6* choices in order of preference, which I will enter into Ed's incredibly complicated, yet brilliantly simple creation, The Matrixator, to determine who goes to lunch with whom. As with last year, the dinner guests will also be recommended by the Matrixator. If you requested to host someone but didn't get selected and would like to go to dinner with them, note that on your email as someone separate from your six choices and you will be inserted in the dinner list with that person, if you wish. To submit your choices, you must press REPLY to this email. If you send a new email and don't just press reply to this one, the Matrixator will go berserk and you won't get any of your choices (the subject line should read RE:Lunch with the Speaker Choices). Most people will not get all of their choices, but you will be more likely to get your first choice than your sixth. The ones marked with (**) are coming to us via the Neuroplasticity Training Grant, so those people get first dibs on dinner and lunch. Lunches are at noon on Tuesdays at the faculty club. Choices must be received by September 26. If you would like to go to lunch with Lynn Landmesser (she is the first speaker on Sept. 23), have your email to me by noon on september 22 and include -Landmesser at the end of the subject line. Below is a list of this year's speakers. Email me with any questions.
