Daughter Lena has been accepted into medical school but meanwhile (September - November 1997) she is hiking the Pacific crest trail from Canada to Mexico. Here she is looking very smooth and shady at Inuvik in August.
Nona's website is well worth a visit. Nona worked for the month of August in Inuvik in the Regional Health Centre there. Inuvik is in the Northwest Territories of Canada, on the Mackenzie River delta where it enters the Beaufort Sea, well within the Arctic Circle. Here is Lena's friend Jacques , and with her sister Ruby as well . On the way up to Inuvik we crossed the great Mackenzie river and Nona had a mudbath treatment . A photo in Inuvik may be our Christmas photo . We did a hike into the Richardson Mountains and found several old caribou horns , climbed to the top of Old Flat Top , and got an overview of the caribou grazing grounds , where in the spring and fall the caribou migrate north and south.
